cat tree. It had a strong run, earned glowing reviews from real customers, and even found a loyal following. So when sales slowed… and our client eventually decided to discontinue it… we felt it deeply. Such a shame.
But here’s the bigger question:
Why does a product that looked great, worked well, and was loved by users — sometimes have such a short life cycle?
In our experience, the answer often lies not in the product itself… but in its market fit.
This particular model was designed for a client who specialized in Gothic-style pet products. The dark colors, dramatic silhouette, and coffin-inspired base were all intentional — to match their brand’s aesthetic. And for a while, it worked.
But here’s the reality:
Gothic style = niche market.
And when that niche gets crowded (more and more similar products appeared), and your distribution channels are limited… sales naturally decline. Even great products can’t survive without the right audience.
💡 So… What If We Reimagined It?
What if we kept the core structure — the cozy hideaway, the elevated perch, the sturdy base — but repositioned it for the mainstream?
Here’s our proposal:
→ More versatile. More homes. More buyers.
✅ Size Optimization: Reduce the top perch diameter by 15–40%.
→ Still spacious for cats that want to rest on the top, but less material.
→ Cost reduced: white sisal is cheaper than black sisal, and smaller top perch costs less.

Cost Target: With these tweaks, we believe we can bring the
FOB cost down to $7.5–$9 USD — making it highly competitive in
the mid-tier cat tree market.
